Tecnica has designed the Viva Phoenix Max 8 with 1 thing in mind. To keep women’s feet happy while skiing. This boot is built on a fairly wide 102mm last that is best suited for average to wide feet. The 3 Density Technology allows this boot to be very easy to get on and off and the 80 flex works great for entry level to upper intermediate level skiers. Tecnica has included several other women specific features to improve comfort such as the Fur Lining, Flared Scalloped Calf, and Calf Adaptor Construction. The 3 buckle design works just as well as 4 buckles, but with less fuss. If your goal is to simply stay out and ski with the family in comfort than this boot will be a great fit.
This women’s ski boot is measured in mondo point sizing. The
easiest way to determine your size is to look at the chart below. Locate your regular shoe size and look down
to determine your boot size.
Mondo size can be converted to US women’s sizes fairly
easily. To translate that to a US women’s
size, add the 2 and 3 together to get 5.
Then place the .5 behind it. The
result is a 5.5. The 5.5 is actually a men’s size since mondo translates
directly to men’s sizing, in order to translate to a woman’s, 1 full size must
be added. Therefore a woman’s 6.5 is relatively a 23.5 mondo size. We also need to remember that skiers
typically wear a ski boot that is one size smaller than their regular
shoe. That means a women with a 7.5 shoe
will typically wear a 23.5 ski boot.
