The Bonafide ski boot from Tecnica falls into their new Free Mountain Category. It has very unique features that make the boot very versatile. It comes with an arch grip insert underneath the sole of the boot to make it easier to walk over rocks and ridges. There is also an optional Tech Compatible Sole available to allow the boot to be used with Dynafit touring bindings. If that is not important to you I am sure there are other features that will be. The Bonafide will be great for strong upper intermediates to lower level experts who are looking for a boot capable of pushing it as hard as they do. It will provide a great option for the skier who wants a boot that can be used for touring and also in the resort. It is built on a performance orientated 98mm last that works great for the narrow to average width foot.
This men’s ski boot is measured in mondo sizing. The easiest way to determine your size is to
look at the chart below. Locate your
regular shoe size and look down to determine your boot size.
Mondo size can be translated to US sizing fairly
easily. Let’s use 27.5 for example. Add the first 2 numbers together and get a 9,
then move the .5 behind the 9. Therefore
a size 27.5 is relatively a 9.5. It does
get a bit more confusing because skiers typically wear a ski boot that is 1
size smaller than their regular shoes.
So a person who skis in a 27.5 boot will typically wear a 10 or 10.5
shoe. This simply conversion works
almost all the time. It is extremely
rare a person will wear the same size ski boot as regular shoe.
